EXPECTED SCHOOL WIDE LEARNING RESULTS

Mt. Lukens High School Graduates Will:

1.  Plan to become community members who:

  • Demonstrate financial responsibility.
  • Display tolerance in a culturally diverse community.
  • Resolve conflicts using a variety of strategies that strengthen and promote social harmony.

2.  Respond as critical thinkers who:

  • Assess learning, interrelate ideas from a variety of sources, and communicate those concepts to others.
  • Evaluate, synthesize and analyze information from a variety of sources.
  • Apply knowledge when making important life decisions.

3.  Integrate skills of:

  • Reading, writing and speaking in coherent statements.
  • Listening and conveying pertinent facts to others.
  • 21st Century technology into the Common Core curriculum.

4.  Demonstrate literacy in technology by:

  • Using technology to enhance understanding of Common Core content.
  • Operating a variety of software platforms.
  • Developing skills to enhance employability.

5.  Effectively communicate by:

  • Reading, understanding, interpreting and analyzing works from a variety of media.
  • Applying college ready writing skills for a variety of personal and academic purposes.
  • Verbally communicating thoughts, ideas, and feelings in an appropriate manner.

MISSION STATEMENT

Mission Statement:  Our mission is to bestow an engaging and challenging standards-based curriculum delivered in a personalized, individualized approach that allows student to have access to the Core Content/ 3 Practices.

VISION STATEMENT

Vision Statement:  Our vision is to graduate students who are effective communicators with critical thinking skills.  Our students will be responsible community members who value their culture as well as others' in order to maintain harmony in culturally diverse communities.  Our students will be proficient in the use of current technology in preparation for postsecondary training and the work world.
